Yolanda (Sandles) Yell left us peacefully at the age of 71 on November 7, 2024, to dance with abandon on the streets of Heaven.
Yolanda was born to the parentage of the late Waldo and Ethel Mae Sandles on November 12, 1952, in Houston, Texas. She attended school and graduated in Normangee, Texas. She accepted Christ at as her Lord and Savior at an early age.
She was known to those that knew her most as Linda. She met and married the late Wilbert E. Yell on March 11, 1972, and to this union three children were born. She worked many years as an administrative professional while living in Houston, Texas. She eventually relocated to Normangee to be near aging parents.
As her health began to fail, she moved to Manor, Texas with her daughter. Immediately, she began to seek a place to worship, and she found that at Webberville Baptist Church. While there she served as a faithful choir member, bible study and Sunday school teacher. In most recent times, she joined the City of Refuge COGIC where she attended church with her daughter and son-in-law and she remained a member until her passing.
When Linda walked in the room, her presence was immediately known. She was a great storyteller and enjoyed entertaining her family. Everyone loved to be around her. She was a special aunt to her nieces and nephews, a beloved grandmama to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a dear sister and THE BEST MAMA to her children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert E. Yell; parents, Waldo and Ethel Sandles; grandson, Jaelyn Adams; niece, Tracy McGee; nephew, James Nunn, III; and brother-in-law, William Wagner.
She leaves precious memories with her children, Joel Sandles (Kimberly), Dwan Yell (Dian), Tameika Middleton (Rondo), and Andraea Semiens; sisters, Ophelia Wilson, Mae Wagner, Von Newson (Derrell), Annie Nunn (James), Gail Ardoin, and Kay Banks; special cousin, Barbara Montgomery; grandchildren, Jordan Sandles (Antoinette), Joshua Sandles, Jewlian Smith (Alexis), Jerica Sandles, Dezmond Yell, Jaida Smith, Drayton Yell, Dawson Yell, and Dayne Yell; ten great-grandchildren; seven bonus grandchildren; eleven bonus great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Arrangements are entrusted to Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
