Woodroe McMahon was born April 12, 1916 in Madison County, Texas to Arthur and Cordia (Painter) McMahon. He passed away on May 1, 2017 at the Brazos Valley Hospice facility in Bryan, Texas at the age of 101 years. He lived most of his long life in Madison County and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in North Zulch. He served in the U.S. Army prior to and during World War II. He worked as a guard at T.D.C.J. (formerly known as T.D.C.) and retired from there. Mr. McMahon enjoyed gardening and farming. He enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music, especially Blue Grass Gospel music.
Mr. McMahon was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Emmett McMahon, Oss McMahon, Floyd McMahon and Plummer McMahon and sister, Ada Belle McMahon. He is survived by his son, Jerry McMahon of North Zulch; two grandchildren, Scott McMahon and Kelli Jenkins and four great grandchildren, Mabry McMahon, Josephine McMahon, Sej Jenkins and Tessa Jenkins.
Funeral services for Woodroe McMahon are set for 10 AM, Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Madisonville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Whitt Meyer will officiate the service, and burial will follow in the Willowhole Cemetery in North Zulch. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday evening, May 3, 2017 from 5 PM until 7 PM at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers are Scott McMahon, Mabry McMahon, Wendell Mosley, Bill Mosley, Rudy Cortez, Jr. and Rodney Nance.
Madisonville Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
