William Thomas "Tom" Barbee, Ii

March 27, 1970 — September 2, 2018

Tom Barbee, a three year resident of Centerville, and formerly of Pasadena, passed away September 2, 2018 at his home in Centerville. He was forty-eight years old.

Born William Thomas Barbee, II on March 27, 1970 in Pasadena, Texas, he was the youngest of two children born to William Thomas, I and Marion (Johnston) Barbee. Fondly known as “Tom” to friends and “Tommy” to close family, he grew up in Pasadena and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps following graduation from high school. Tom was honorably discharged as a Corporal and always held a sense of pride for having served his country. Tom had last worked as a safety coordinator for a business called F.I.R.S.T. in the Pasadena area. In his spare time, Tom enjoyed being part of a cooking team in the Pasadena and Houston Livestock Shows called “Outcast Country Cookers.” He especially enjoyed his times at those shows, as they reminded Tom of an earlier time when he was younger and rode bulls at the rodeo.

Tom was a member of the V.F.W. in Pasadena. He was also a member of the American Legion in Pasadena and Centerville, as well as, the Disabled American Vets organization. Following his move to Centerville, Tom spent quite a lot of time building memorials for the families of deceased Veterans. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved animals, especially his many dogs. Tom was a member of the Cowboy Church of Leon County.

Tom was preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents; ex-wife, Laura George and uncles, Joe, Bubba & Rayford Robison and Kenneth Barbee.

Surviving family members include parents, William “Billy” & Marion Barbee of Centerville; daughter, Rebecca Barbee of Houston; sister, Mary Ann Erwin (Mark) of Leona; half-sister, Kimberly Currier (Matthew) of Nashville, TN; nieces & nephews, Tyler Shannon, Micaela Erwin, Kailey Currier & Mason Currier, as well as, aunts, Ruth Brown of Centerville, Arlene Dawson of Livingston, Darlene Alexander of Cleveland, Charlene Cole of Centerville, Elaine Lippard of Arkansas, Cindy Newman of Willis, Rebecca Williamson of Houston & Judy Barbee of Blanco.

A memorial service to celebrate Tom's life will be held 2 P.M., Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Cowboy Church of Leon County. Pastor Tuffy Loftin will officiate the service. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
