William Alvin Carter

February 2, 1945 — May 15, 2021

William Alvin Carter (a.k.a Old Man in the Woods), passed away in his home in Centerville, Texas on May 15, 2021. He was 76.

William was born on February 2, 1945, to Raymond and Valeria Carter in Houston, Texas. During his career, William worked for Brown & Root, and then later he worked for Celanese Corporation where he retired at age 55. Prior to his retirement, he spent countless weekends in Centerville building his home to be ready for him when he retired. He spent the last twenty-one years in this home; he always said this was where he wanted to be when he died.

William moved to Centerville for the love of hunting and fishing, at the same time, loving the solitude of country life. He loved his neighbors and loved to help them with their small projects, whether it be building a house, or helping clear their property. He was loved by many and enjoyed socializing with his neighbors. Everyone loved him, he will sorely be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry Carter and Frank Carter. William leaves behind his (2) children, daughter, Suzanne and her husband Scott Zimmermann, of Tomball and son, John Carter and his wife Janet, of Houston and sisters, Nancy and her husband, Paul Gonzalez of Magnolia and Gladys Loftin of Lufkin. William also leaves behind his (3) grandsons, Jared Ferraro of Houston and Noah and Alexander Zimmermann of Tomball. William also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He loved all of them dearly.
