Wesley Moon

 A graveside service for Mr. Wesley Moon, age 89, of Marquez, Texas will be held 9 A.M., Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Marquez Cemetery, Marquez, Texas. Pastor Jack Smith, of Calvary Christian Center, Oakwood, Texas, will officiate the service. A time of visitation will take place Tuesday, June 27th from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.

Wesley Moon was born one of nine children to Jasper Burnice & Maggie Maybelle (Peoples) Moon in Concord, Texas on May 12, 1934. He passed away June 24, 2023 in Centerville, Texas following a lengthy illness. Wesley married Emma Winstead November 10, 1961. They shared forty years together prior to her passing in 2001. Wesley began work as a guard for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice at the Ferguson Unit, Midway, Texas in 1962. Following his retirement in 1987, Wesley and Emma moved back to the Marquez area where they enjoyed the remainder of their years together. Wesley was an accomplished fiddle player and had enjoyed playing in local county bands.

Wesley was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Emma Louise (Winstead) Moon and siblings, Gladys Lucille, Elbert Lester, Ethel Marie, Cecil Manning, J.B., Maggie Lee, Maureen and Joyce Louise.

Surviving family members include daughter & son-in-law, Laura Lea (Moon) & Mike Owens; grandchildren, Kayla Marie, Amber Brook, Kristen Renea and Michael Lynn, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Maggie, Elizabeth, Gabriel, Austin, Zack, Hazel and Hayden, brother-in-law, Jr. Winstead; sisters-in-law, Lilly Galloway and Dora Shields and numerous nieces and nephews.
