Walter & Sandra Harris

After nearly forty-seven years of marriage, Sandra Bea (Hunter) Harris, 67, and Walter Gordon Harris, Jr., 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at their home in Centerville, Texas. Funeral Services are 11:00 A.M. Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. A closed-casket visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas.

Sandra was born on October 18, 1954 to Stayton and Carolyn Hunter in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Spring Branch High School in 1973, received her RN degree from San Jacinto Community College and was united in marriage to Walter on May 10, 1975 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas. Sandra spent most of her life selflessly caring for people either through her profession as a nurse or through the assistance and support she provided to the people she loved.

Walter was born on August 6, 1953 to Walter and Laquita Harris in Hobbs, New Mexico. Walter was employed at ExxonMobil for over thirty years and worked around the world on projects in the Gulf of Mexico and in countries like Nigeria, Venezuela, Chad, and Singapore. But his favorite place, above all else, was Bout Time Ranch where he and Sandra spent their retirement. Every morning they enjoyed watching the deer while drinking their coffee and tea and they could often be found on their phones happily receiving and responding to photos of their lovely granddaughters.

Grateful for having shared in Walter and Sandra’s lives are a wealth of family and friends including their daughter, Julie Ann Smith, her husband, Adam Dale and their daughters, Adalie Grace, Anna Joy, and Alexandra Kay of Edmond, Oklahoma and their daughter, Jeanette Joy Harris and her husband Scott Finckler of Houston, Texas. Other surviving family members are Sandra’s mother, Carolyn Jeanette Hunter; her sister, Jeanette Marie Wild; and her brother, Daniel Edwin Hunter.

Walter and Sandra were preceded in death by Sandra’s father, Stayton Berry Hunter and Walter’s parents, Walter Gordon and Laquita Joy Harris.
