Sylvia V Richards

Sylvia Richards, age 74, of Centerville died March 25, 2020. She was born Sylvia V. Suttle on September 19, 1946, in the Suttle family home in the Eunice Community of northeast Leon County. After graduating from Centerville High School in 1965, she took a hair styling course in Waco, Texas. Sylvia worked in a beauty salon in Trinity for a number of years; then, later, she cut and colored hair for family and friends.

In 1969, Sylvia married Doug Richards of Trinity, Texas. The couple spent several years traveling across the country while Doug worked on a seismograph crew. In 1983, they settled in Leon County and lived in the Suttle “Homeplace” where Sylvia had been raised.

The couple had no children, but were “Aunt” and “Uncle” to a number of nieces and nephews. Sylvia enjoyed fishing, reading, working crossword puzzles, playing dominoes and spending time with her family.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey J. B. Suttle and Hattie Bell (Lummus) Suttle. Surviving family include husband, Doug Richards of Centerville; brothers, Harvey Powell Suttle and Floyd Suttle and his wife, Nancy, of Centerville; a sister, Starlene Turner and her husband, Troy, of Centerille; nephew, Steve Suttle of Centerville; nieces, Joanne McCall and Kim Cummings (husband, Ricky) of Centerville, Sheila Turner of Cypress, Texas, and Vickey Goodrum (husband, Jason) of Willis, Texas, as well as, numerous great nieces and nephews.

Due to the current circumstances, there will be no memorial services.
