Shirley Gene Gressett

Shirley Gene (Hammock) Gressett, 65, of Marquez, Texas passed away on June 9, 2023 in Livingston, Texas. She was born on February 1, 1958 to William Thomas "W.T." and Ima Gene (Simms) Hammock in Farmington, New Mexico. Shirley was known as "Meme" to many people that knew and loved her. She had worked at Leon ISD in the cafeteria for twenty-four years. Shirley enjoyed sitting on the back porch to watch the chickens and hummingbirds. She truly had a heart of gold, and her family meant more than the world to her.

Shirley was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Mitchell Ray Gressett; and brother, Ronald Dean Hammock. She is survived by her son, Harlon Gressett of Marquez, Texas; daughter, Sherry Gressett (Jeremy Williams) of Marquez, Texas; grandchildren, Tanner Farris (Trace Swearingen) of Magnolia, Texas, Trinity Warner of Bryan, Texas and Aspen Clark of Marquez, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Quinnlee and Aria; brothers, Tommy Hammock (Betty) of Marquez, Texas and Robert Hammock of Marquez, Texas; dog, Jewel "JuJu"; grand-dog, April; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

A funeral service for Shirley will be at 1 P.M., Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. A time of visitation will take place from 10 A.M. until time of the service at the funeral home.
