Sherrie "Grammy" Gibson, 63, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, at her home in Marquez, Texas. She was born on April 27, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Bill and Ann (Sousa) Welling, bringing a warm and vibrant spirit into the world that touched the lives of everyone she met.
Sherrie was known for her generosity, her open and welcoming home, and her deep belief in the importance of family. She never met a stranger, always finding a way to connect with and uplift those around her. Her joy for life was evident in everything she did, and her contagious laugh had a way of lighting up even the darkest of days.
Sherrie was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Ann and Clayton Headley; her first husband, Fred Gibson; her brother, Ricky Welling; and her sister, Shannon Ricks. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Mark Murphy; her siblings, Edward Blevins (Tina), Clayton Headley (Kristen), Angie Bush (Don), Eddie Welling, Bobby Welling, and Billy Welling; her beloved children, Theresa Rhoden, Nikki Poe (Matt), Cory Hogan, Cody Murphy (Chelsea), Cole Murphy (Julia), Darren Murphy, and Allie Murphy; and her treasured grandchildren, Taylor Rhoden (Darby), Payton Rhoden, Jake Rhoden, Gunner Poe, Ella Poe, Eli Poe, Sawyer Murphy, Willow Murphy, and Waylynn Murphy. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Lincoln Lee Rhoden.
Sherrie will be dearly missed by her closest friends, Robin Speer and Tammy Lee, and by the countless others whose lives she touched with her kindness and love. Her passing leaves a profound void, but her family and friends find comfort in the love and memories she shared. Sherrie's legacy is one of family, love, abundant generosity, joy, and connection-a reminder to cherish family and to always greet life with laughter and love.
A funeral service for Sherrie Jean "Grammy" Gibson will be at 10 A.M., Friday, December 13, 2024 at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. Bro. Lee Weiler will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Madisonville Cemetery, Madisonville, Texas. A time of visitation will take place at the funeral home from 5 P.M. till 7 P.M. on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
