Ronald Lee "Ron" Despain

February 18, 1949 — October 26, 2020

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16 (NIV)

Ronald Lee DeSpain, age 71, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020 in Bryan, Texas. A graveside service celebrating his life will take place 2 P.M., Friday, October 30, 2020 at Centerville Cemetery in Centerville, Texas. Pastor Tuffy Loftin, of the Cowboy Church of Leon County, will officiate the service. Those who wish to pay their respects to Ron’s family are encouraged to attend.

Ron was born February 18, 1949 in Houston, Texas, the youngest son of Quanah Marshall & Sarah (Havard) DeSpain. He grew up in the Channelview area and moved with his wife, Carol and their young family to Centerville from Baytown in 1981. Ron and Carol raised their family in Centerville. Living in the country allowed Ron the perfect opportunity to do what he loved best—hunting, fishing and being outdoors “in the woods.” He taught his children how to hunt and fish and later enjoyed taking his grandchildren to do the same. Family gatherings were a staple in Ron’s family. Fish-fries and bar-b-ques presented a prime opportunity for the whole family to get together and fellowship with one another. Ron always enjoyed those times. Ron retired from Nucor Steel in 2013 and thoroughly appreciated this time in his life. Although he only had a brief seven years as a retiree, Ron lived it to the fullest.

Ron was preceded in death by both of his parents; brother, Joe Aaron and nephew, Michael Aaron. His surviving family includes, loving wife, Carol (Rappolee) DeSpain of Centerville; sons, Chuck (Gari Shae) Perry of Round Rock, Jesse (Amanda) DeSpain of Centerville and Cody (Casey) DeSpain of Centerville and brothers, Michael “Alvin” Aaron and wife, Inez of Louisiana and Milton “Curtis” DeSpain and wife, Neva of Onalaska. Ron will forever be remembered as “Big Daddy” by his grandchildren, Corbin Chandler, Caiden Boss, Jeran Schaedler, Dayton DeSpain, Jake Pineda, Weston DeSpain, Luke DeSpain, Reese Perry and Avery Perry. Ron is also survived by sister-in-law, Barbara Jo Aaron and nephews, Sidney Dewayne, Robert Aaron and Dwayne Aaron.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
