Rodolfo A. Garcia, Sr.

Rudy Garcia, Sr., age 75, of Centerville, passed away on May 9, 2017 in Bryan, Texas. A public visitation will take place on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Rodolfo A. Garcia, Sr., affectionately known as Rudy, was born on November 4, 1941 in Edinburg, Texas to Guadalupe & Rosa (Anzaldua) Garcia. He was a member of the National Guard for three years and received an honorable discharge in 1962. Rudy married the love of his life, Modesta Carrizales, in 1965. He worked as a truck driver for the Chevron/Texaco Corporation, now known as the Chevron Corporation. Rudy was a quiet man who saved most of his conversation for those he was closest to. He loved his family dearly and always enjoyed time spent with them. Rudy also liked taking care of his vegetable garden when he was able. He had lived in Centerville since 1998, and before that, he and his family had resided in Leona since 1981. He was Catholic in faith.

Rudy was preceded in death by both of his parents and brother, Guadalupe Garcia. Surviving family members include wife, Modesta Garcia of Centerville; children, Rudy Garcia, Jr. (Marli) of Greensboro, N.C., Rick Garcia (Sybil) of Centerville, Patty Garcia (Ernie) of Montgomery, Melissa Cisneros (Raul) of Huntsville and Rollie Garcia (Ashley) of Greensboro, N.C.; sisters, Connie Zamora of Buda, Elma Rodriguez of Spring, Adelina Garrett (Edwin) of Elsa and Delia Garcia of Edinburg and brother, Oscar Garcia of Edinburg. Rudy is also survived by grandchildren, Brandon (Ashton), Austin (Carrie), Ernie J., Alyssa, Kevin Daniel, Rebecca, Kelsey, Ryan, Daniel Walter, Ella Elizabeth, Olivia, Paige, Kimberly, Brandy and Nyeshia and great grandchildren, Cole, Teegan, Evy Mae, Harlen, Kyler and Tatum.
