Robert Armstrong, age 71, of Centerville and formerly Conroe, passed away December 18, 2020 at his home in Centerville. He was born January 20, 1949 in Conroe, Texas to William Malcolm & Lucille (Bynum) Armstrong. Robert was a graduate of Willis High School. Many of his sixteen graduating classmates were together from the time they began elementary school until graduation.
Robert was employed as a lease operator for Exxon Mobile for twenty-five years. He then made the move to Centerville where he worked several years for Lacey’s Grocery Store. Robert genuinely enjoyed his years in Centerville. He made many friends and went many places, yet was able to maintain his “simple” lifestyle, not wanting for anymore than what he essentially needed in life. Robert was a huge fan of the Centerville Tigers and followed them to many football games. When he wasn’t watching a game, he was listening to it on the radio. Robert was a generous and thoughtful father, grandfather and friend. In his younger years, Robert enjoyed racing cars, and he also kept a collection of Loony Toons memorabilia, his favorite being Wile E. Coyote.
Robert was preceded in death by his father; brothers, Malcolm and Mike Armstrong; paternal grandmother, Alcie and his aunt, Blanche. Survivors include a son, Chad Armstrong of Webster; a daughter, Aimee McKinney of Seabrook; three grandchildren, Maddie, Colby & Makayla Armstrong. He also leaves behind many dear and wonderful friends in Centerville and Conroe.
Graveside services for Robert will be held 2 P.M., Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at County Line Cemetery outside of Willis, Texas on the Montgomery/San Jacinto County line.
