Robert "James" Brooks was born on March 16, 1953, to Robert "R.B." Brooks and Frances Marie Belcher, both of whom sadly preceded him in death. From an early age, Robert embraced his faith in Jesus Christ, a foundation that guided him throughout his life. He had a remarkable gift for making friends wherever he went and was often the life of the party, earning endearing nicknames such as "Shark" and "Killer" from those who loved him.
Robert's journey was not without heartache; he was preceded in death by two beloved sisters, Linda Harvey and Dorothy "Fay" Gibson; as well as three brothers, Ray Benson, Danny Brooks, and Derrick Brooks; and a cherished nephew, Robert "Bozo" Gibson. He leaves behind a rich legacy, including four devoted children, Romell Maxey (Shirika Gilbert Maxey), Monica Brooks, Ray Brooks (Jade Wooten Brooks), and Ebony Gray. He is remembered fondly by Wanda Maxey, the mother of his children, and seven treasured grandchildren.
Robert is also survived by three sisters, Melanie Brooks (Ernest Brooks), Elaine Baker, and Sandra Brooks, along with a multitude of nephews, nieces, family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A homegoing service for Robert will be held 11:30 A.M., Friday, December 27, 2024, at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. Burial will follow in Two Mile Paradise Cemetery, Leona, Texas.
Pallbearers: Ray Brooks, Romell Maxey, and other family and friends.
**Favorite Prayer** The Lord's Prayer
"Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen."
Arrangements are entrusted to Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
