Rick D. Place was born December 28, 1955 in Canton, New York. He was one of three children born to Thomas & Joan (Ellsworth) Place. Rick worked in the real estate business, on both the commercial and residential sides, buying, selling and renting properties.
Rick and his wife, Alleen, moved to Centerville twelve years ago to provide end of life care to several family members. It was in Centerville where Rick gained an extended family of church members and friends.
Having been raised in the north, Rick grew up with and had an intense love for the game of ice hockey.
Battling diabetes for most of his life eventually took it’s toll on Rick. He became very ill toward the end of his life and spent many days in the hospital under medical care or attending doctor visits.
Rick, finally succumbing to illness, greeted his Lord and Savior the morning of December 13, 2019 with his devoted wife, Alleen, by his side. He is survived by his parents, Thomas & Joan Place of Potsdam, NY; wife, Alleen Place of Centerville; son, Colin Place (Lauren) of Houston; brother, Randy Place of Massena, NY and sister, Cindy Berend (Keith) of New Albany, OH. Rick is also survived by two grandchildren.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held 2 P.M., Friday, December 20, 2019 at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. Pastor Tuffy Loftin, of the Cowboy Church of Leon County, will officiate the service.
