Richard Gondal Mullenax

Gondal Mullenax, 70, of Marquez, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 in Bryan, Texas. A memorial service will take place at 11 A.M., Tuesday, January 10th at the First Baptist Church in Buffalo, Texas. Bro. Lee Weiler will officiate the service.

Richard Gondal Mullenax was born on December 8, 1946 in Palestine, Texas to Vallie & Mollie (Henson) Mullenax. He grew up in the Keechi Community of Leon County. Mr. Mullenax was a graduate of Buffalo High School and attended some classes at Sam Houston State University. He graduated from Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science in Houston and served his apprenticeship at Keever Funeral Home in Ennis, Texas. Mr. Mullenax then came back to Buffalo and opened Mullenax Mortuary. Later, he began selling real estate and opened an oil and gas business. Mr. Mullenax had lived most of his life in Leon County and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jewett.

Mr. Mullenax was preceded in death by both of his parents and brother, Randy Mullenax. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Mullenax of Seale-Round Prairie; daughter, Mia Mullenax of Marquez; twin brother, Rondal Mullenax of Buffalo; sister, Cindy Port (Mike) of Buffalo and grandson, Blake Lowry of Marquez.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Gondal Mullenax request that memorial donations be made to a university scholarship fund for students who participate in the state level of UIL academics. Please mail checks to the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation (TILF), PO Box 151027, Austin, Texas 78715, and specify Gondal & Sandra Mullenax Scholarship Fund in the memo line of your check.

Walters Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas is in charge of all arrangements.
