Ms. Morris was one often children born to James Wiley and Alice (Thornton) Green in Grimes County, Richards, Texas. She lived in a generation that knew more hardships than few today remember; namely the great depression and World War II. She obeyed the gospel in her early twenties and lived every day loving and serving the Lord as a member of the Church of Christ.
She married Garvin Edgar Morris who served his country in the U.S. Army, WWII. They made their home in Bedias, Texas. He was permanently disabled from an injury received in the Battle of Normandy, so she did mostly manual labor helping him on their farm and ranch in Mustang Community, Grimes County. She loved gardening, working in her flower beds, cooking, canning and assisting families in the community in need. She was compassionate to others and every Sunday she would cook lunch for the visiting preacher who delivered a sermon for the church.
Mr. Morris went to be with the Lord in 1976 at the age of 58. They were in the process of building a new home in Madisonville, so when the construction was completed, she moved to Madisonville.
Ms. Morris is survived by two children, Nora Petri and husband, Ernest, and Norman Morris and wife, Susanne, all of Madisonville, Texas. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Stephen Petri and wife, Julie, of Madisonville, Texas; Lydia Pool and husband, Ricky, of Richards, Texas; Greg Morris and wife, Saundra, of Giddings, Texas; and Troy Morris and wife, Vicki, of Madisonville, Texas. She loved taking her grandchildren, Stephen, Lydia, Greg and Troy on deer hunts, fishing trips and participating in the Madison County Fair with them.
She is survived by great grandchildren, Matthew Petri and his wife, Katy; Cody and Cassidy Pool; Grant and Cort Morris; Trent, Wes and Jayci Morris and two great great granddaughters, Kamdyn and Kollyns Petri.
