Nellie Gene Witt

Nellie Witt, 71, passed away June 22, 2021 in Conroe, Texas. A funeral service will be held 2 P.M., Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. Interment will follow in New Salem Cemetery in the Centerview Community of Leon County, Texas. A brief visitation will take place Thursday prior to the service from 11 A.M. until service time.

Nellie Gene (Poore) Witt was born on Christmas Day, 1949, in Houston, Texas to Raymond Roland & Bessie Mae (Bush) Poore. She had last worked as an office administrator for The Lighthouse daycare and had lived in Willis for the past thirty-seven years. Nellie loved her grandchildren and enjoyed having them around. In her younger years she liked to fish but had lately enjoyed just taking rides in the boat. Nellie especially liked to shop and watch movies. She had a habit of watching a favorite movie many times over, most of the time inviting one of her children to join her. She loved the holidays the most, when family was gathered together.

Nellie was preceded in death by both of her parents, Raymond and Bessie Poore; husband, Roger Witt and brother, Ray Poore. Survivors include children, Misty Gregg & husband, Chad of Willis, Marla Lyons of Willis and Dustin Witt of Conroe; grandchildren, Shayne DuBose, Cody Johnson, Amanda Johnson & Michael Gregg; and siblings, Naomi Denton, Kenneth and Cathy Poore & Larry Poore.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
