Nelda Jo Ruby

Nelda Jo Ruby, age 70, of Buffalo was born in Ruston, Louisiana on October 11, 1946 to Mack Eldridge and Mattie (Frazier) Thompson. She had lived a number of years in such towns as Houston, Huntsville, Tomball and Spring. Mrs. Nelda worked for the Aldine School District as the secretary of the Special Education Department. She and her husband, Jesse, moved from Spring to Buffalo in 2012. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Buffalo. She was a devout Christian and her church work meant much to her. Mrs. Nelda was a wife, mother and grandmother, and her grandchildren were very special to her. She and Jesse were married on December 29, 1967. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Felton Thompson and by an infant sister. Mrs. Nelda passed away on March 29, 2017 at her home.
Surviving family members are her husband of 49 years, Jesse Ruby of Buffalo, Texas; sons, Jason Ruby (wife, Kate) of The Woodlands, Texas and Jamie Ruby (wife, Kim) of Montgomery, Texas; daughter, Christina Cooke (husband, Clinton) of Spring, Texas; brother, Kenneth Thompson (wife, Amy) of Laneville, Texas; sisters, Martha Sadler (husband, Jerry), of Choudrant, Louisiana, Glenda Dugdale of Downsville, Louisiana and Brenda Brown (husband, Doyle) of Choudrant, Louisiana and ten grandchildren, Rachel, Christopher, Colby, Evan, Cassidy, David, Rebecca, Michael, Noah and Karrington.
A visitation is scheduled for Monday, April 3, 2017 from 5 pm until 7 pm at Walters Buffalo Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning, April 4, 2017 at 11 am at the Buffalo First Baptist Church with a committal service at 3 pm that afternoon at the Arriola-Cooke Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas. Rev. Alan Grisham, pastor of First Baptist Church in Buffalo, will officiate. Walters Buffalo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
