Mary Louise Thompson, 92, passed away on April 7, 2022 in Bryan, Texas. She was born on April 23, 1929 to John Leavings and Annie Gertrude (Kuenstler) Leavings in Houston, Texas. She was one of eleven children. Mary enjoyed gardening, going to the movies and reading. She always enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren. Another hobby of Mary’s was learning how to craft woodwork with her brother.
Mary was preceded in death by both of her parents; brothers, Johnny Leavings and Bill Leavings; sisters, Jerry McClean, Betty Casey and Ann Williams; and grandson, Joseph Kyle Newman. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Newman (Joe Bob) of Leona and MaryAnne Thompson of Houston; son, Ronny Sharp of Seattle, WA; sisters, Ruth Gould (Buddy) of Houston, Barbara Greenwell (Weldon) of Houston, and Janette Echols (Freddy) of Houston; brothers, Kenneth Leavings of Port La Salle and Ernest Leavings (Ledie) of Mission City; grandchildren, Josh, Rachel, Alyssa, Jonathan and Wendy; and great-grandchildren, Grayson, Brayden, Nathan, Natalie, Hannah and Allie. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family.
A funeral service for Mary will be held 1 P.M., Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Centerville, Texas. Pastor of the church, Keith Bowman, will officiate the service, and interment will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Madison County, Texas.
Arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
