It was a joyous reunion day when Marvin Daniel Byrd, age 86, was reunited in Heaven with his wife, Mary Byrd the morning of January 24, 2023. He also joined his parents; eldest granddaughter, Melissa Martinez and brothers, Roy Dean Byrd and Raymond Douglas Byrd.
Marvin Byrd was born January 8, 1937 in Flynn, Texas to Roy & Edith Elena (Biddle) Byrd. He was raised in Flynn and his family later moved to Hearne when Marvin was around eighteen years of age. Marvin married and raised his own family in Hearne and worked for the Texas Highway Department, retiring after thirty-five years. Marvin enjoyed his retirement back in his home town of Flynn as a rancher, as well as taking on mowing jobs for nearly ten years. Most would describe Marvin as a people person. He enjoyed visiting and talking and loved making people laugh, being a natural jokester, himself. In fact, his own grandchildren thought it was odd when Marvin wasn't joking, laughing or making them laugh.
Marvin will be missed by his sons, D. Wayne & Cookie Byrd of Flynn and Floyd & Dawn Byrd of Rockdale; daughters, Deborah J. Byrd of Flynn and M. Elaine & Andy Millican of Crosby; grandchildren, Heather, Heidi, Britta, Braden, Melissa (deceased), Richie, Brent and Brandon, as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services honoring Marvin's life will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Centerville, Texas. Committal services will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will take place Friday, January 27th from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
