Marilyn Watkins

Marilyn Louise "Granny" Watkins, age 81 of Leona, Texas, passed away in Bryan, TX on December 12, 2022. Marilyn was born in Londonderry, Ohio on October 3, 1941 to Ralph and Margaret Perdue. Marilyn married in 1957, at the age of 16, to Leonard Watkins in Union County, Indiana. Her growing family spent the next 18 years living in Ohio, New Jersey, and Florida before landing in Texas in 1975. During these years she worked at a pharmaceutical bottling company, worked as a contractor that specialized in residential painting, and helped run their flooring company. She moved to Leona, TX in 2000, where she spent the remainder of her life. She enjoyed the quiet country living, puzzles, reading, and taking care of her pets.


Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; former husband Leonard Watkins; sons L. Curtis Watkins and Steven R. Watkins; brothers Ralph “Barney” Perdue, Willard “Will” Perdue, and Charles “Chuck” Perdue; sister Reta Phillips. She is survived by sons Michael Watkins (Tennie) of Leona, Donald Watkins (Hideko) of Shepherd, and Timothy Watkins of Crockett; daughter Julia Peacock (Steve) of Conroe; 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; sisters Patricia Berges and Carolyn “Boots” Gibson, both of Ohio.


Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on December 20, 2022 at the Watkins Family Cemetery in Leona, Texas.
