Malcom Edward Baker was born on December 13, 1936 in Perry County, Tennessee to Brown Harrison & Dicie (Reece) Baker. He was raised in Perry County and had lived in Buffalo for the past seventeen years . Before that, Mr. Baker had resided in Carthage, Texas. He was the owner of the Pitt Grill restaurant in Buffalo for thirty years and loved to cook out on the grill, himself. This was something Mr. Baker really delighted in and always ended up cooking too much food for his guests. It may have been because he spent most of his time chatting up anyone who would listen; for Mr. Baker was a people person. He loved to visit and could spend his whole day talking. A lot of people would say that he liked to tell it like it isstraight and to the point. But this type of bluntness did not cost Mr. Baker any friends. Everyone who met him liked him and thoroughly enjoyed his company. Perhaps Mr. Bakers most favorite pastime was fishing. Fishing allowed him a chance to kick back and relax and forget about all of lifes worries. Mr. Baker lived his life to the fullest, enjoying every moment of his time on earth.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Mildred Baker; daughter, Dana Baker; grandchildren, Cathy M. Bryant, Caleb Phifer & Charles Ryan and several siblings. Surviving family members include sons, James Baker (Penny) of Mt. Pleasant, Danny Baker (Debby) of Christiana, TN and Michael Baker (Judy Zarcone) of Mt. Pleasant; daughters, Cathy F. Bryant of Eustace, Cindy Mettlen of Buffalo, Melinda Haggard (Billy) of Carthage, Lisa Velarde of Nashville, TN and Darla Ryan of Paducah, KY and brother, Jerry Baker (Beatrice) of Tennessee. Mr. Baker is also survived by grandchildren, James Jr., Ashley, Danny Jr., Crystal, Elizabeth, Anthony, Melissa, Malley, Christopher, Hollywood, Kay, Nancy, Taylor, Lewis, Lance, Mike Jr., Courtney, Ashley W., Sissy, Kenneth, Katie and Amber; twenty-seven great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
