A homegoing service celebrating the life of Lvolla Kenney, age 73, of Spring, Texas will be held 11 A.M., Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. A time of visitation and remembrance will take place prior to the service from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home.
On August 19, 2023, Lvolla Kenney quietly entered eternal rest. Lvolla had a good life and a peaceful death. Lvolla was born in Centerville, Texas to the late Daniel Hopkins and Ola Mae Hopkins on May 6, 1950. Lvolla’s early childhood days were spent in Lubbock, Texas and Barstow, California. She accepted Christ as her Savior and was a faithful and active member of Union Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the usher board for many years.
After graduating from John F. Kennedy High School, she went on to study briefly at Barstow Community College before transferring and graduating from Long Beach State University. She met and married Jackie Turner and had one daughter, Karola Turner. Years later, she married Fred Kenney.
Upon graduation, Lvolla began a lengthy career at Fort Irwin Army Base and the Marine Corps Logistics Base in the budget division. Her hard work and meticulousness were greatly appreciated. She retired after more than 30 years of service. After retiring, Lvolla devoted her time, energy and love as a caregiver to her mother until she passed.
Lvolla touched so many people’s lives with her independent spirit, loving heart, and caring ways. She was devoted to her daughter, sister, and other family members. She treasured her relationship with her nieces, great nieces, and nephew. Lvolla was preceded in death by her father and mother, Daniel Hopkins and Ola Mae Hopkins.
Lvolla leaves to cherish her memory loving daughter, Karola Turner; sister, Shirley Ann Byrd; niece, Aleshia Ehrenfreund; nephew, Joe Davis; great nieces, Alishia Furlow, Talise White, Alyshia Santiful and Arayia Furlow; life-long friends of sixt-three years, Cynthia Cooksey and Linda Webb, who were with her until the very end; godson, Reggie Robertson; godsisters, Vivian Brooks and Laticha Cerise, and a host of relations, church family, extended families and many friends.
