Larry Wayne Tyree

March 10, 1951 — June 28, 2017

Larry Tyree, of Houston, passed away on June 28, 2017 in a Houston hospital at the age of 66 years. Graveside services will be held at 10 A.M., Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Sardis Cemetery near Jewett, Texas in Leon County.

A memorial service for Larry Tyree will be held Friday, July 7th at 2 P.M. at Bear Creek United Methodist Church, 16000 Rippling Water Drive, Houston, Texas 77084. A reception will immediately follow in the FLC.


Larry Wayne Tyree was born on March 10, 1951 in Pasadena, Texas to Henry Buck & Mary Ellen (Miles) Tyree. Larry was in insurance sales for many years. He was a faithful member of Bear Creek United Methodist Church in Houston and was involved in many ministries of the church (most involved his guitar). Larry served on the church staff as FLC Coordinator from February 2010 until 2016. When not at work Larry enjoyed playing his guitar and making music with family and friends, hunting, fishing, golf and softball. Larry was a lifelong resident of Houston.


Larry was preceded in death by both of his parents and brother, Cliff Tyree. He is survived by loving wife, Marsha Tyree of Houston; son, Chris Tyree of Houston; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bo & Paula Williams of Marquez and Marie & Charles Hancock of Jewett and several nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.

Serving as honorary pallbearers: Lance Williams, Shawn Hancock, Shannon Hancock, Ron Hull, Jim McCoslin, David Ramby, James Saunders & Vince Tyler.


Walters Funeral Home in Centerville is in charge of all arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family would like considerations to the Bear Creek UMC Youth Program, or a favorite charity in Larry' s Memory.
