Judith Sydney Smith

Judith Sydney Smith, age 90 years, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones December 20, 2022. She was born December 4, 1932 in Clovis, New Mexico to Albert Sydney & Julia Coryenne (Finch-McChristy) Johnson.

Judith had attended "THE UNIVERSITY" of Texas in Austin and was very proud of this. She had moved to Centerville from the Dallas area in 2000 where she had retired from the Parks and Recreations department of the City of Dallas. Judith enjoyed her job, especially organizing running events through Thruston Racing. She had begun playing tennis at the young age of fifteen and did so late into her life. After first moving to Centerville, Judith did substitute teaching work for Centerville High School. She found that she enjoyed walking around the track and did so for many years. Judith remained active through her entire life. She enjoyed gardening and reading. She was also a competitive person and liked to win. Judith had enjoyed camping and traveling. She and her daughter, Kyle, took many memorable trips and vacations to various locations. Judith was a member of Holy Innocents Episcopal Church, Madisonville, Texas. Most of all, Judith loved her family and spending time with them. She will forever be fondly remembered and sorely missed.

Judith was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Walter Smith and brother, Albert Johnson. She is survived by brother, Phillip Johnson; sisters, Elizabeth Porter and Margaret Ruckman; children, Kirke Smith, Kelly Smith, Kern Smith, Kerry Smith and Kyle Keightley; as well as grandchildren, Ryan, Derek, Kory, Katie, Kayler, Madorah, Lella, Cole, Brandon and Erin and twenty great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Judith will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11 A.M. at Holy Innocents Eposcipal Church, 600 N. McIver St., Madisonville, Texas 77864.
