Juanita Mae Wooley was born October 27, 1932 in the Nineveh Community of Leon County, Texas. Her parents were Wallace & Willie (Langley) McCarty.
Mae worked at Dairy Queen in Centerville as a cook for a number of years. She was also employed as a cook at various other restaurants. Her family would always comment that Mae’s cooking was the best around. Mae enjoyed taking care of her big garden. Every year it always yielded a bounty of food which Mae canned and stored.
Mae had lived in Centerville since 1978 and was a member of the River of Life Church. She passed away peacefully in her home on the evening of April 27, 2019. Mae was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Doc Wooley; son, Joe Leonard & Wallace Earl Wooley; daughter, Juanita Roberts and brothers, Wallace, Roy and Josh McCarty.
Mae’s surviving family includes sons, Roy Wooley (Debbie) of Magnolia and Les Wooley (Sharon Lee) of Centerville; grandchildren, Martin, Michelle, Ruthie, Lisa, Jo Ellen, Darrell, Les Wayne and Misty; eighteen great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mae are scheduled for 2 P.M., Thursday, May 2, 2019 at New Salem Cemetery Chapel in the Centerview Community of Leon County. Bro. Charlie Young will officiate the service. The Wooley family will receive friends prior to the service Thursday from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the New Salem Chapel. Interment will be in the New Salem Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas.
