Joseph Danford Bay was born in Huntsville, Texas on June 22, 1980. He passed away on October 15, 2018 at the age of 38, as a result of a traffic accident in Madison County. A funeral service for Joseph has been set for noon, Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Ephesus Baptist Church in Jewett, Texas. A short visitation is scheduled at the church from 10 AM until 12 noon before the service. Rev. Ray Payne, pastor of the church, will officiate and burial will follow in the Sardis Cemetery near Jewett. Walters Funeral Home in Centerville is in charge of arrangements.
Joseph was raised in Channelview, Texas but lived most of his adult life in Leon County. His family said that Joseph was a happy individual who loved music. “He was always singing at the top of his lungs and thinking that he sounded pretty good.” He was also a “man of many words”, meaning that he was often outspoken and opinionated. He was a great husband, father, son, brother and friend. People always seemed to be drawn to him. Joseph’s mother said he was so proud of his Irish roots and that he loved people and loved life.
Joseph Bay was preceded in death by his two stepfathers, LaVoyd Ginsel and Darrell Hess, grandmothers Juanita Roberts and Bobbye Jordan, grandfathers Jay Danford Bay, Joe Ross Miller and James Ginsel. Surviving family includes his wife, Stephanie Bay; children, Lissette Nunez, Gavin Bay, Riley Bay, Dalton Bay, Sophia Bay, Kaden Roberts and Jay Bay; parents, Jody Bay and wife, Kerry, Robbie Ginsel and Jo Ann Hess; siblings, Joshua Bay, Meaghan Ostera, Jessica Smith and Jackalyn Cauthen; grandparents, Alvin Roberts, Mary Alice Merkel, Barbara Miller, Gene Jordan and Katherine Glazner; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers: Gavin Bay, Riley Bay, Dalton Bay, Bradley Bay, Joshua Bay, Bear Bay, Ronnie Bay, and J.D. Bay. Designated as pallbearer alternates are: David Barnes, Jason Clemons, Michael Noey and Jesse Duke.
