Johnny was born in the Midway Community of Madison County, on March 25, 1915, to Clara Barbara Best and Gorden Odessa Wiseman. He went to be with his Lord on October 19, 2016 at his residence in the Madisonville Care Nursing Home. Johnny had been a resident of Madison County all of his life, and was a member of the Elwood Baptist Church in Midway.
Johnny was primarily a farmer and a rancher, though he worked for the Texas Department of Corrections for a time. He loved gardening, and almost every time you would see him, Johnny was wearing a jump suit and a straw hat. His sons have said that their Daddy was not afraid of working. He would work longer and harder than anyone else they knew.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Letha Wiseman; a grandson, James Arnold Wiseman; five brother and four sisters. He is survived by his five sons, J.W. Wiseman Jr. (Jackie) of Midway, Jimmy O. Wiseman (Pauline) of Splendora, Don W. Wiseman (Annette) of Madisonville, Carl D. Wiseman (Patti) of Midway, Dan H. Wiseman (Brandi) of Midway; thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
