Following his retirement, John found great joy in taking care of his vegetable garden and numerous fruit trees, as well as, his cattle. He also enjoyed the typical country recreations of fishing and hunting. Most of all, John was a family man. He loved each member of his family dearly and had just celebrated the arrival of his only great grandchild before his death. John was a devout Catholic and a long-time member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. He and his wife had lived in Centerville since 1992. He passed away at his home on June 13, 2018. John was preceded in death by both of his parents and sister, Jean Mensi.
