John Reo Olds

John Reo Olds, a beloved member of the Conroe community, was born on July 19, 1946, in Rusk, Texas. Throughout his life, John proudly served his country as a distinguished veteran of the U.S. Army, until his honorable discharge on January 31, 1968. Following his military service, he excelled in electronics repair at Sears, during which time he earned his associates degree. He moved to a role at Exxon as a senior systems analyst in telecommunications, and later as a systems administrator for Smith & Co. In all these roles John made impactful contributions until his retirement.

A man of diverse talents and interests, John's vibrant spirit shone through his hobbies, which ranged from operating a ham radio and playing the accordion to dancing and indulging in the pursuit of knowledge. Known for his kind and generous nature, John possessed the biggest heart, always ready to offer support to his family and lend a helping hand to those in need.

John Olds passed away on October 17, 2024, in College Station, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife, Opal May (Brooks) Olds; children, John E. (Evie) Olds, Tracy D. (Rachelle) Olds and Kristina M. (Robert) Bos; grandchildren, Phoenix, Airabella, Cleighton, Killian, Kayla, Rebecca, Justin, Mitchell, Yahshua and Gabriyl; as well as numerous extended family and close friends.

In celebration of John's remarkable life, a funeral service will be held 11 A.M., Friday, November 1, 2024 at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas, where those who knew him will come together to honor his memory. John will be laid to rest in Perry Starr Cemetery, Anderson County, Texas.

John's legacy of compassion, dedication, and zest for life will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In his memory, let us reflect on the joy he brought to our lives and the kindness he shared with all.
