Graveside services for Jesse Wilcox, 79, of Oakwood, will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Oakwood Cemetery in Oakwood, Texas. Rev. Jack Smith will officiate the service. A public visitation will be held on Friday, November 18th from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Walters Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas.

Jesse James Wilcox was born on August 11, 1937 in DePauw, Indiana to John Elmer & Anice Rogers (Beauchamp) Wilcox. He worked as a longshoreman in the shipping industry. Jesse loved horticulture and, at one time, had a big nursery in Houston. He could grow almost anything if he wanted. Jesse was a member of the Lions Club in Conroe and Buffalo and also a member of the International Lions Club. In his later years, Jesse spent a majority of his time at Mickeys Pizza in Buffalo where he soon formed a lasting friendship with the owner. Jesse had lived in Oakwood since the early nineties, coming from Conroe.

Jesse passed away on November 11, 2016 at his home. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his wife, and was the last survivor of eight children.

Surviving family members include nieces, Nancy Sue Stack of Plano, Mary Marie Eddins of Dayton, Anice Marie Hourigan of Sheldon and Nancy Lynn Giles of Montalba; nephew, Rogers C. Hourigan of Dayton; several great nieces & nephews and a very special friend and confidant, Mickey Edem, of Mickeys Pizza in Buffalo.

Walters Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas is in charge of all arrangements.
