Jerry Powell Moon

Funeral services for Jerry Moon, 66, of Centerville, Texas will be held 12 Noon, Saturday, March 7, 2020 at New Salem Cemetery Chapel in the Centerview Community of Leon County, Texas. Rev. Bobby W. Burleson will officiate the service. Interment will follow in the New Salem Cemetery. A brief visitation will take place from 11:30 A.M. to service time at New Salem Chapel.

Jerry Powell Moon was born April 1, 1953 in Houston, Texas to Pearl Powell & Dora Mae (Wells) Moon. He was a heavy equipment operator and diesel mechanic and had lived in Leon County for the past thirteen years, coming from Bryan. Jerry enjoyed camping and especially fishing. He also liked “tinkering” with vehicles. Every year, Jerry enjoyed growing a large vegetable garden. Very recently, he had just produced some very large turnips. Jerry was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. He passed away at his home following a brief illness February 29, 2020.

Jerry was preceded in death by both of his parents and brother-in-law, Paul Pinnell. He is survived by wife, Debra Moon of Centerville; son, Jerry Dee Moon of Centerville; brother, Larry Dean Moon (Cathy) of Kissimmee, MO and sister, Mary Pinnell of Crockett, as well as, grandchildren, Levi Moon and Summer Moon. Jerry is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
