Jean Burk was born September 7, 1940 in Coldwater, Michigan to Raymond Cecil, Sr. & Irene (Combs) Shoup. She had worked most of her life as a meat wrapper and retired as the head meat wrapper for Kroger Grocery Store. In her younger years, Jean grew up ice skating and became quite good at it. This ability also allowed her to be an exceptional roller skater. Jean loved dancing, going to garage sales, and was proficient in shooting guns where she participated in many Turkey Shoots. Upon moving to Texas to the family property in Leona, Jean began a love for horse riding, especially trail riding, and she owned several horses during that time in her life until she was physically unable to care for them any longer. In her later years, Jean owned several Chihuahuas, caring for them as if they were her own children. When circumstances forced her to take residence in assisted living, Jean would continuously ask about her “furbabies” and how they were doing. Jean had lived in Leon County for the past twenty years, coming from Houston and was Lutheran in faith.
Jean passed away November 4, 2018 in College Station following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; great grandson, Zachary Reagan and half-brother, Raymond Shoup, Jr. Surviving family members include children, Shelia Reagan of Arkansas, Michael Joseph Roush of Centerville and Tammy Lindner (Jim) of Navasota and grandchildren, Shana Ray Sparks, Jessica Faye Ashley, Harley Leroy Roush, Kara Michelle Bradley, Kelly Jean Pershall, Travis Justin Pershall, Cameron Dean Lindner and Brianna Lynn Lindner. Jean is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren.
