James Michael Clark (Mike) was born December 26, 1940, in De Kalb, Texas to James Henry Clark and Agnes Clark. On October 17, 2021, Mike passed away at the age of 80.
At a young age, Mike learned the values of integrity and hard work which prepared him for a life of public service.
After high school, Mike enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for four years.
Mike was accepted into the 17th Texas Game Warden Academy at Texas A&M University in 1965. The following year, Mike graduated and was assigned to Ft. Worth, Texas. In 1966, he became the proud father of his daughter Amy. Mike transferred to Centerville in Leon County, Texas in 1970 where he served as a Game Warden until he retired in 1993. Upon retirement, Mike held a commission as a Special Game Warden for 16 additional years.
After serving the communities of Leon County for 23 years as a Game Warden, Mike had made many lifelong friends he considered family and made Centerville his permanent home. Mike ran and was elected Justice Of the Peace in Precinct 2, where he served the community for two terms. Mike’s tall commanding presence fit well with his desire for fair and equal justice.
Mike loved quail hunting, mainly to watch the dogs work. His favorite part of the many hunting trips was the companionship and good food. He loved spending time with friends and family. Mike enjoyed his time gardening, fishing, fixing things, and befriending anyone who had a garden or good fruit and pecan trees to prepare the finest home cooked meals.
