Funeral services for JW Johnson, 86, of Buffalo will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas. Tony Moye, pastor of First Baptist Church, Centerville, Texas, will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Marquez Cemetery, Marquez, Texas. A brief visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home.
JW Johnson was born July 13, 1935 in Waco, Texas to James Leroy & Lillie Mae (Gressett) Johnson. He served his country in the U.S. Navy following high school and retired as a supervisor in the oil and gas industry. JW was a dedicated and hard worker and had continued after retirement gauging oil wells up to two months before his passing. When he wasn’t working, JW enjoyed watching the Saturday night music shows on RFDTV and western television shows, usually with a Diet Dr. Pepper can in his hand. He passed Saturday, March 19, 2022 following an extended illness.
Those preceding JW in death are both of his parents; loving wife, Nona “Darline” Johnson; step-son, Darwin Copeland; sister, Glenda Williams and brother, Alvin Johnson.
Surviving family members include daughter, Reta (Ricky) King of Centerville; granddaughters, Sarah & Kathleen King, both of Centerville; sister, Ruby Wickersham of Kilgore; brothers, William (Vicki) Johnson of Montgomery and Oscar (Charlyn) Johnson of Kilgore.
Arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
