Hugh Redding Barrett

Hugh Redding Barrett, age 75, of Fritch, Texas, passed away on May 3, 2017 in a Lubbock hospital. He was born on March 11, 1942 in Huntsville, Texas to Hugh Roland & Myrtle Lilly (Bennett) Barrett.

Hugh worked for seventeen years as a supervisor in the transportation division of Phillips Petroleum. After he left Phillips Petroleum, Hugh and his wife became co-owners of a bar and loved spending time visiting with the bar patrons. In his spare time, Hugh was an avid outdoorsman and relished his time hunting and fishing. Hugh also loved sports and valued his opportunities coaching baseball. He had lived in Fritch since 1986 and was Methodist in faith.

Hugh was preceded in death by both of his parents; brothers, Gerald Elmer Barrett and Donald Joe Barrett and sister, Theda Rae Henry. He is survived by wife, Bibian Barrett of Fritch; sons, Hugh Wesley Barrett (wife, Robin) of Spring, Jason Wade Barrett of Crockett and Jonathan Guy Barrett of Spring; daughters, Denise Orlean Tilley (husband, Rodney) of Spring and Deborah Kay Whipple (husband, Mike) of Levelland and sister, Nancy Orlean Foulds of Kirbyville. Hugh is also survived by grandchildren Amber Nicole Tilley, Danika Nicole Jarrett, Hugh Brandon Barrett, Kirstie Lynn Middleton, Ryan Tilley & Brianna Rae Barrett & Kaitlyn Whipple; great grandchildren, Madison, Brooklyn, Hugh Jackson, Aubrey, Collin, Kinsley & Waylon and great grandchild, Mackenzie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Monday, May 8, 2017 at the McAdams Chapel near Crabbs Prairie. Hugh Gregory Klodzinski will officiate the service and interment will follow in the McAdams Cemetery, adjacent to the chapel. A brief visitation will take place Monday before the service from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the McAdams Chapel.

Madisonville Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
