A Graveside Funeral Service has been set for Howard Lloyd Dickie, age 91, of Hartselle, Alabama and formerly of the Ninevah Community in Leon County, for 11 AM, Thursday, March 1, 2018, at the North Creek Cemetery. Interment will follow. No public visitation is scheduled.
Mr. Dickie was born in Orangefield, Texas on March 4, 1926. His parents were Joe Matthew Dickie and Mildred Hurd (Barrett) Dickie. He died February 24, 2018 in Hartselle, Alabama. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He lived in Houston and attended the University of Houston for four years, receiving a degree in mechanical engineering.
Mr. Dickie lived much of his life in Houston and worked a variety of jobs including mechanical engineer and school teacher. Later in life, after retiring, he became a rancher in Leon County. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and attended a Baptist church his whole life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by a sister, by a daughter, Donna Taylor of Humbolt, Tennessee and by his wife, Anne Dickie. Surviving family includes a daughter, Kimberly A. Alvey of Hartselle, Alabama, a stepdaughter, JoAnn Stevens of Houston, Texas, thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
Funeral services are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas.
