Henry Thomas Meek, a cherished son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather peacefully passed away at his home in Buffalo, Texas on May 1, 2024. Born on June 22, 1927, in Refugio County, Texas, to George Harvey and Mamie Ellen (McBride) Meek, Henry lived a life dedicated to the Lord, service, hard work.
A patriotic soul, Henry proudly served as a Motor Machinist's Mate 3rd Class in the US Navy Pacific during World War II, exemplifying courage and honor in the face of adversity. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and his service will be forever remembered.
Throughout his life, Henry carved out a successful career as a machinist, showcasing his skill and knowledge in this specialized field. His dedication to his craft was unmatched, and his expertise was greatly respected by all who had the pleasure of working alongside him.
Henry was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Ruth Pearl Meek; children, Delores Bynum and Curtis Meek; siblings, Roy, Alvin, Letha, Allen, Allene and Marie; grandson, Blake Waters and great-grandson, Christian Bynum.
Henry will be dearly missed by his loving daughter, Brenda Schaedler and husband, Cliff, of Buffalo; son-in-law, Gary Bynum; sister, Betty Rummage; grandchildren, Chace Bynum (Robin) of Troup, Shawna Sutton (Brad) of Palestine, Travis Bynum (Traci) of Oakwood, Jessica Bailey of Lufkin, Nicole Rutledge of Buffalo, and Amanda DeSpain (Jesse) of Centerville; great-grandchildren, Emma, Suvonna, Zachary (Lynette), Dustin (Brianne), Chase (Courtney), Trisdon (Kaeley), Trinidy, Landon, Kaitlyn, Jameson, Jace, Brenden, Caidenn, Jeran, Dayton, and Weston; and great-great-grandchildren, Westley, Harper, Waylon, Kash, Keaten, and Easton.
In celebration of Henry's remarkable life, funeral services and ceremonies will be held in his honor. A visitation will take place at Ephesus Baptist Church on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 9:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM. The day will culminate in a graveside service at Gourd Creek Cemetery near New Waverley, Texas at 2:30 P.M. Rev. Ray Payne will officiate the services.
Henry's legacy will endure through the memories and stories of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his spirit find peace in the eternal embrace of our Lord.
