Hattie Udell Hodges, age 82, formerly of Jewett, Texas passed away June 11, 2023 in Dallas, Texas. She was born June 9, 1941 in Dripping Springs, Texas to Vernon Chester & Margaret (Hogan) Crumley. Hattie was a 1959 graduate of Dripping Springs High School. In her younger years she was a devoted homemaker and housewife. After her children were grown she worked for Frito Lay and Hubbard Oil. Hattie was an expert quilter and seamstress having made quilts for most of her family. She enjoyed gardening and loved butterflies. Hattie's favorite color was terra cotta. She had been a short time resident of Dallas and had resided much of her life in Jewett, Texas.
Hattie was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Timothy T. Hodges (2016) and son, Timothy Light (2008). She is survived by children, Thomas Leland Light of Mesquite, Troy Leewayne Light of Irving, Paulette Marie Hodges of Conroe, Karen Ruth Hodges (Art McMahon) of California and Tammie Light of Odessa; grandchildren, Patricia N. Light, Leeland C. Light, Anthony Hodges, Andrew Hodges, Amy Hodges, Sarah Hodges, Thomas Cruz Villarreal, III (Paula), Travis Light and James Light, as well as a host of great-grandchildren.
A funeral service honoring Hattie's life will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, June 18, 2023 at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. Bro. Johnny Veretto will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Marquez Cemtery, Marquez, Texas. A brief visitation will be held prior to the service from 12 Noon to service time at the funeral home.
