Memorial Funeral Services for Gary Wayne Fielder, age 69, of Leona, Texas have been scheduled for 11 AM, Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville, Texas. Gary Fielder passed away on November 12, 2017 in Bryan, Texas.
Gary Wayne Fielder was born November 19, 1947 in Dexter, Missouri. He was raised in Missouri. He was drafted into service during the Viet Nam War and served in the Army and then in the Army Reserves. After being discharged from the service, he owned and operated a gas station for a few years. He then moved to Texas to be near his brothers and sisters. He married Judith Sturm on December 31, 1977. He worked for many years as a carpenter doing heavy construction work. He then worked for the Conroe ISD as a carpenter just before retiring.
At this time, he and his wife, Judy, moved to their place in Leona to live there full time. Gary enjoyed the country life. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and to fish. He also grew vegetable gardens as well as beautiful flower gardens. Gary had a soft spot for his animals, especially his dogs.
Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Mae Fielder; three brothers, Douglas E. Fielder, Orville Fielder and J.C. Fielder; two sisters, Tressie Bailey and Emmer Calvert; children, Teresa Fielder and Jerry Wayne Fielder and a grandson, Joshua Fielder. His surviving family includes his wife, Judy Fielder of Leona, Texas; three sons, Jerry Sturm, Jr. (wife, Greta) of Bedias, Texas, Dennis Sturm (wife, Cheryl) of Goodrich, Texas and Randy Sturm of North Carolina; a daughter, Patricia Sue Fielder of Topeka, Kansas; a sister, Selmer Pulliam of Dexter, Missouri; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
