Gary Lee Steinbecker, departed this world peacefully on March 13, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on July 21, 1954, in New London, Wisconsin, Gary was the cherished son of Percy Mace and Sandra (Smith) Steinbecker.
Gary was a true craftsman, showcasing his remarkable talents as a mechanic from an early age. His hands were never idle; he tirelessly worked as an oil field mechanic for the majority of his life, earning respect for his skill and work ethic.
In 1993, Gary relocated to Centerville, Texas, where he made countless memories with his family and friends. Before settling down in Centerville, he lived in both Arkansas and Houston, embracing the unique experiences each place offered. No matter where he went, fishing remained one of his greatest passions—whether it was a local lake or a weekend getaway, he loved the serenity of nature, especially when surrounded by his loved ones.
A proud member of Grace Tabernacle Church, Gary found community and fellowship that brought him joy and support over the years. He was not only good as a mechanic, but also had a knack for woodworking, creating pieces that showcased his creativity and craftsmanship.
He leaves behind his wife, Sharon Steinbecker of Centerville; children, Gary Eugene Steinbecker (Catrina) of Milano, Dewey Steinbecker (Stacy) of Bryan, John Lee Steinbecker of Dallas; and Samantha Hamontree (Sam) of Centerville; step-children, Sharonda Toney of Baytown, Lacey Alston of Centerville, and Michael Young of Centerville; sisters, Donnia Hobbs (Robert) of Madisonville and Lona Dove of Centerville; grandchildren, Treyton, Breyton, Peyton, Allyson, Dakota, Morgan, Kaleb, Jayln, Landon, Jessica, Naomi-Jean, and Winrey; and great-grandchild, Kohlson with one great-granddaughter on the way. Gary is also survived by his special dogs, Baby-Girl and Shugie; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Gary was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his family and friends.
