Donald Wayne Brock was born on January 28, 1948 in Navasota, Texas; the only child of William & Earline (Hicks) Brock. He grew up in the Iola and North Zulch areas and was a graduate of Iola High School. Don received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Sam Houston State University. Following graduation, he taught high school for four years in Humble, Texas. On June 27, 1975, Don married the love of his life, Alice Vincent. The country life was calling, and the newly married couple soon moved back to Dons old stomping grounds of North Zulch. Don later earned a Doctorate of Agricultural Education degree from Oklahoma State University. Dons favorite activity was going to the various livestock auctions in the area on a daily basis. However, livestock auctions werent his only past times. He also enjoyed a good estate sale, or any type of sale, for that matter. When he wasnt at an auction, Don was on his ranch tending to his cattle.
Don was a family man. He loved his wife dearly, as well as his two children. He was deeply involved in their various 4-H and FFA activities and freely offered help and advice to the other participating children (whether it was welcome or not). Don later enjoyed joining his son on truck rides wherever it was that he was headed to at the time. He was a grandfather to two wonderful girls, and story time with them was a common place thing around the Brock household, along with a fair share of spoiling. Don wasnt just a fan of his cattle. He had several dogs that he was quite fond of that followed him around the ranch while he was taking on daily activities.
Don passed away suddenly on December 20, 2016 in Bryan, Texas. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. Surviving family members include wife of forty-one years, Alice Brock of North Zulch; daughter, Rachel Ann Brock (Ronnie Gann) of Durango, Colorado; son, William Vincent Brock (Heather) of Madisonville and grandchildren, Ada Jane & Claire Luella Brock of Madisonville.
