Evelyn "Deniece" Taylor was born March 16, 1943 in Bay City, Texas to Howard & Georgia Lee (Stephens) Simmons. She married John Taylor June 28, 1967 in Houston, Texas. She and John raised their family in the Houston area. After moving to Centerville, Deniece spent thirty years working at Lacey's Grocery. She loved her horses, the deer and her cats. She enjoyed going saltwater fishing. Deniece was a loyal person to her family, friends and neighbors and loved to share her life and home with them. She passed away peacefully at her home of forty-four years July 14, 2022 following a long illness.
Deniece was preceded in death by both of her parents; siblings, Flora "Novella" Tesch and Leslie "Don" Simmons and son, Clyde Taylor.
Surviving family members include husband of fifty-five years, John Taylor of Centerville; siblings, Yvonne Burkhart of Braden, FL, Howard "David" Simmons (Twila) of Marshall, Gary Wayne Simmons of Sheridan, Faron Lane Simmons of Robinson and Baron Dane Simmons of Angleton; children, Jay Taylor of Centerville, Venetia Taylor (Louis) of Bryan, Evelyn Jo "Jodie" Williams of Bryan and Oneta Dee "Dee Dee" Anderson (Glenn) of League City; twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services honoring Deniece's life will be held 10 A.M., Monday, July 18, 2022 at New Salem Cemetery Chapel. Interment will follow in New Salem Cemetery. A public visitation will take place Sunday, July 17th from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
