Eva June Bell Cantrell was born on January 5, 1945 to Woodrow and Ira Dell Bell. Once of age, she attended the Lone Star School in Flo, and then finished high school in Centerville. The Bells are well known for producing athletes, and June was no exception. She excelled in basketball and volleyball. She played competitive volleyball up into her sixties. Her last organized volleyball group took her on trips to the Senior Olympics, where her team won multiple medals.
June was a lifelong volunteer at the Parker Cemetery and the Lone Star Community Center, helping with fundraisers and community events.
June raised three sons, Phillip, Peyton and Patrick Smith. She also helped raise many grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews between two marriages.
She passed away January 3, 2024 following an extended illness.
June was preceded in death by both of her parents; son, Peyton Smith and granddaughter, Maci Elizabeth Smith. She is survived by husband, Marlin Cantrell; two sons and their wives, Phillip (Michelle) Smith & Patrick (Jamie) Smith; step-children, Tammy (Doug) Fields, Amanda (Jorge) Juarez and Jason (Robbie) Cantrell; five brothers and sisters, Maxine Lee, Janet Bell, Sandra Reeder, Gary Bell and Dub Bell; seventeen grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
An inurnment service honoring June's life will be held 10 A.M., Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Parker Cemetery in the Flo Community of Leon County, Texas.
