Homegoing services for Ethel Sandles, 95, of Normangee, will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Zion Baptist Church in Normangee. Dr. Ronald D. Henderson, will officiate the service and interment will follow in the Sand Prairie Cemetery in Normangee. There will be no public visitation.
Ethel Mae (Jones) Sandles was born on November 29, 1921 in Leona, Texas to Sam, Sr. & Lula (Davis) Jones. She worked most of her life as a cook. Ethel was a member of the Zion Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess and usher and as the missions president for a number of years. She passed away on December 24, 2016 in Bryan, Texas. Ethel was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Waldo Sandles; one grandson and one granddaughter.
Surviving family members include daughters, Ophelia Wilson of Normangee, Mae Wagner (William) of Normangee, Von Harding (Cyrus) of Normangee, Annie Nunn (James) of Austin, Yolanda Yell of Manor, Gail Ardoin of Normangee and Kay Proctor of Houston; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. Ethel is also survived by a numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
