Elsie Umphenour, 96, left her earthly home to join her Lord and Savior May 22, 2021. She was surrounded by beloved family and welcomed by so many she held dear in her heart that had gone on before her.
Elsie Lee (Martin) Umphenour was born December 31, 1924 in Bell County, Texas to Raymond Mark & Mary (Andrews) Martin. She and her late husband, Melvin, had lived in Centerville, Texas since 1979, coming from Spring, Texas. Upon Melvin’s death in 1993, Elsie moved to the Conroe area where she worked as a demonstrator for Sam’s Club and did this for twenty-three years until she was ninety-one years old.
Even at an older age, Elsie was a very independent woman and appreciated accomplishing things on her own. What her small stature limited her in doing she made up for it with a tremendous personality and strong faith in the Lord. Elsie was a member of Waverly Station Cowboy Church and an avid reader of her bible. She was also a faithful prayer warrior and intercessor.
Elsie most enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She dearly loved her large family and the special times she was able to spend with them.
Elsie was preceded in death by both of her parents; twelve siblings; husband, Melvin Starr Umphenour; son, Dennis Umphenour, Sr.; son-in-law, Rick Elliot and grandson-in-law, Joshua McCoy.
