Dorothy Ann Luedke

June 22, 1925 — February 5, 2020

Dorothy Ann Luedke was born June 22, 1925, in the Prairie Hill Community near Brenham, Texas. Her parents were Charlie & Olga (Wagner) Riechers. Dorothy was raised and grew up in Prairie Hill. She married her sweetheart, Gerald Luedke, December 7, 1942. Dorothy was an immaculate housekeeper, expert seamstress and gardener and enjoyed working with ceramics. She worked most of her life as a rancher. Fishing was Dorothy’s passion and she enjoyed any moment she was able to do so.

Dorothy was a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Centerville and very involved in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. In fact, Dorothy was involved in most any church activity including utilizing her sewing skills to make Paraments, alter coverings and banners. She had lived in Centerville since 1959. Dorothy passed away February 5, 2020, in Crockett, Texas. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Gerald Luedke; son-in-law, Edward “Ed” Phillips; brothers, Ervin Riechers, Burney Riechers & Charlie Riechers, Jr. and great, great-grandchildren, Laken & Swayne Bradley.

Dorothy is survived by son & daughter-in-law, DeWayne & Joan Luedke of Centerville; daughters & sons-in-law, LaNell Phillips, Dale & Larry Dorman, Linda & Cooper Sullivan & Sandra & Coy Murphree, all of Centerville; sister, Evelyn Thielman of Brenham and special friends, Carolyn Ellis Thomas & Joe Wunderlich. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and eight great, great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be held 3 P.M., Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Centerville, Texas with Rev. Keith Bowman officiating. Dorothy will be laid to rest in Centerville Cemetery. The Luedke family will receive friends Friday, February 7th from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 505, Centerville, Texas 75833

Arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas.
