Dolly Anna Sanders, at the age of sixty-nine, made her final move to heaven on September 23, 2020, after unforeseen health issues. She was born on June 30, 1951 in Houston, Texas, to parents, Reuben Edwards and Coleen Cardin Edwards. One of four children, Dolly was proceeded in death by both her parents and her two siblings, Wanda, Frank, and Frank’s son, Frankie.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Sanders; her brother Steve Edwards; son and daughter, and their spouses, Gary and Sabrina, Deanna and Fred; grandchildren, Aaron Sanders, Rachel Sanders, Chanity Randall, Majesty Randall, Natalya Smario, Seth King, Noelle and Nassia King; and great-granddaughter, Coleen Randall; several cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Dolly loved life and people. She was musically inclined from a young age, playing multiple instruments and became an accomplished vocalist. She later performed on gospel night, along with her husband, at the Grand Old Opry and recorded on Nashville’s famous music row.
Through her fifty-year marriage to the love of her life, Gary, she was a partner in both marriage in ministry. While raising their family they enjoyed travel, scuba diving and motorcycling. Later in life, she and her husband opened a home for orphaned children in Hawkins, Texas, and faithfully served in her church’s homeless outreach ministry.
Dolly’s laugh was contagious and her sense of style unparalleled. Her family will remember her delicious homecooked meals, love for the beach, ability to maintain lifelong friendships and the undeniable love for her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services for Dolly will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas.
