Homegoing services for Deborah Smith, 61, of Houston, will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Crossing Community Church, 3225 West Orem Dr., Houston, Texas 77045. A visitation will take place that morning at the church from 10 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. Rev. Harvey M. Walker will officiate the service. Interment will follow in the Houston Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2426 Cullen Blvd., Pearland, TX 77581.
Deborah Lynn (Lacey) Smith was born to Joe Lee Lacey & Lilly Ruth Brown in Leon County, Texas on May 5, 1955. She gave her live to Christ at an early age at Pentecostal Missionary Baptist Church in Third Ward under the leadership of Pastor Dempsey and Albertha Jones, who later became her godparents. She then joined the Crossing Community Church. She was a faithful member to the end.
Deborah graduated from Jesse H. Jones High School in South Park. She later attended Beauty College. She also worked as a very dedicated secretary. She worked as a waitress and cook in several restaurants. Deborah was well known for her cakes, lunches, dinners, fund raisers, home interior dcor and Avon. She united in holy matrimony in 1975 to Frankie Joe Smith, her husband of thirty-six years. To this union, Reginald, Jermaine (deceased) and Ne-Undra Smith were born.
Deborah was preceded in death by her husband, Frankie Joe Smith; both of her parents and son, Jermaine Smith. She leaves to cherish her memories two children, Reginald & Ne-Undra Smith; mother-in-law, Mae Edna Smith; brother, John Otis Lacey; sisters, Pamela Saalam (Al-Kawthar) & Wanda Brooks (Derek); four sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Kaley, Kiarah, Khameron, Javon & JaVante; great grandchild, Niko; goddaughters, Angel Linsey & Marcie Harrison; godsisters, Delores S. Walker, Eddrena L. Davis, Jewel McBride, Sherolynn Graham, Linda Jones and Rhonda Mouton; special uncle, Wilmer Washington and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas was in entrusted with all arrangements.
