A funeral service for Deborah Debbie (Moore) Laurance, age 68, of rural North Zulch and Nyssa, Oregon has been set for 11 am, Wednesday, December 7, at the Madisonville Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Cross Cemetery in Grimes County. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 9 am until 11 am.
Debbie Laurance was born in Houston on June 1, 1948. Her parents were Ralph and Ann (Whitaker) Moore. She attended a Baptist Church. She and her husband both worked for Continental Airlines. Although they lived in Nyssa, Oregon, they frequently visited her family in Texas. They would stay for days or weeks and, sometimes, even months. Debbie retired from the airline as an airline clerk. She enjoyed cooking and baking and often made baked goods for others. She would also assist people by taking them to their doctor appointments. She loved her yard and garden. At her home in Nyssa, Oregon she had a full acre as a garden. She and her husband canned peaches and cherries. They also put up corn and pickles.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents. Debbie passed away on December 3, 2016 in North Zulch, Texas. Her surviving family includes her husband, Kenneth Walter Laurance of Nyssa, Oregon; a daughter, Suzanne Chitty and her husband, Randy, of Spring, Texas; sisters, Jan Akers of Iola and Marylynn Gwyn and her husband, Ronnie of Channelview, Texas; granddaughter, Kellian Daugherty and husband, Richard; grandson, Jonathan Gill of Spring and great grandchildren Brayden, Cadence, Layla and Kamryn.
Serving as pallbearers are Darrell Gwyn, Tim Akers, Randy Chitty, Jonathan Gill, Wade House and Cain Carter.
